Well you can sure say that we do not take our health for granted these days! Last night at this time I was in the ER with Joe who has had pneumonia and been practically bedridden the past 10 days. He had been on a prescription for 4 days and it hadn't done any good so I took him to the doctor and an x-ray was taken and it showed the pneumonia was covering 2/3 of his left lung. The doctor said it was 'very extensive' and for us to go to the ER and talk to the doctor there. Joe was put on an IV and administered 2 different antibiotics and also given a ct scan (the same exact scanner as Cole goes to). After 2 hours of antibiotics he noticed quite a difference in his energy level and intensity of his cough. He was released at 2am and has been resting all day. He was told that because he is 'young and healthy' he was able to ultimately beat this. I think the 'young' part he liked hearing.
Because of this, we haven't known what we will be doing for Christmas as our original plans were to travel to Tahoe to be with mom and dad. As of last night they were going to come here but now Joe feels well enough to travel there. I will be doing the driving though so I'm a little nervous about that!
Cole continues to do well and is a stronger walker every day! He is scheduled for a ct scan Jan. 19th- this is the last ct he is planned to get as Dr. Goodman is planning on looking at his chest on x-ray every 3 months after this ct b/c of the radiation in the ct scan. This will be done until she feels he is 'cured' which would be non-active disease until he is age 5.
We hope you have a merry Christmas and a good new year!

I think the doctor was just too nice to call Joe a "tough old goat"
