About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

3/16, Tuesday- Port removal scheduled

With happiness and anxiety we are letting you know Cole is scheduled to have his port taken out April 12th. It is a good feeling that Dr. Goodman thinks he is doing well enough to not need it any longer and does not anticipate he will need any treatment anytime soon. Although it has made everything so much easier when he does need anything administered into his bloodstream so I am feeling a little uneasy about it being taken out. But I am trusting Dr. Goodman on this! Once his port is out our monthly doctor visits will be quick b/c we don't have to get his port flushed any longer which will be great!

Cole will also be circumcised on the 12th which is good b/c then he doesn't have to be sedated two separate times. And b/c he has been off treatment for 5 mos. we will start talking about vaccinations which are planned for 6 mos. post treatment b/c his immune system should be back up to par.

We are getting ready to celebrate Ruby's 4th birthday party on the 27th! All her grandma's and grandpa's will be here which will be fun. She's all about Disney Princess this year and Dora. She will be Cinderella on her big day and we will have a bounce house at the end of our street. She is getting to be such a big girl!!!
