About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

Chubby Chubby

Well we haven't updated the blog for a while - take that as a good sign.

Cole has been gobbling along and is becoming very roly-poly. He eats all the time. His personality is starting to come through too - he laughs a lot.. way more than Ruby ever did.. he loves to laugh and giggle..

We turned in labs last week and his blood levels are normal still so that's really good. No transfusions - no GCF shots... Even though he's a trooper, it's nice not having to poke him in the leg.

This weekend we had a nice break and Ruby stayed the night at with her Great Aunt and Uncle in Lafayette. So we had a nice break to get massages, see a movie - Slumdog Millionaire, and have some good Indian take-out. A very nice relaxing break.

Holly decided it was good for us to donate blood which we did today. Holly nearly passed out - I guess she doesn't have that much blood in her system. Joe couldn't donate because he went to areas where the was malaria - rural Cambodia - so he'll be able to donate in July after a 1 year period.

So all is good and busy....

We are so happy to hear all is well and you got a much needed break. I have to tell you, I can draw blood and give shots to other people, but I get really faint when I have to give blood or get a shot. Love, Lecia and Rick Hatch
