About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

11/18, Wednesday- Liver biopsy tomorrow

We made it back from Australia this morning, sleep deprived to the max! We had a good time despite a lot of rainy weather and had a great time with our friends, Clinton, and Helene, and their kids Veronica & Owen, who live in Sydney. They showed us all around and saw a lot of Australia's beauty!!

So now we are back to reality and tomorrow Cole will have his liver biopsy. This is to see what the "spots" on his liver and lungs are - if they're actual lesions and active disease or scar tissue. Once again Cole cannot eat after midnight tonight since he will be under anesthesia tomorrow. We are told the biopsy is a pretty simple procedure so we are not too concerned about it but the doctors do have to watch for internal bleeding if the area does not start to heal properly. Because of that we will spend about 4 hours in recovery making sure the area does heal properly.

We will update you when we hear back early next week.

Lots of love,
Holly & Joe
