Today Cole will go in for an ultrasound of his liver at noon and hopefully squeeze in an chest x-ray which is requested by Dr. Goodman before his appointment at 1:30 to meet with her and get his port flushed. She originally had requested a CT to be done today but Joe and I felt that b/c it has only been 2 months since the biopsy came back "normal" we could avoid all the radiation and just go with an ultrasound and an x-ray and wait a couple more months for the CT. Dr. Goodman agreed that should be fine so we will have the CT done in March. The only thing with an x-ray and ultrasound is that if there are still lesions on his organs, we cannot see if they are getting any smaller, only if they are getting larger. With the CT, she can see the "true status" of the marks on his lungs and liver.
Joe and I decided that one thing we wanted to do around Christmas time this year was contribute to the Kaiser Pediatric floor that Cole was in for the first month of his life. We want to make it a better, more fun place for the kids while they are recovering from injury or illness. Joe contacted Carla Delemos there and found out what they could really use so we could provide that for them. We used some of our own money as well as a gift card we received last year to Target from a generous family through the oncology clinic to buy all kinds of books, DVD's, crossword puzzles, coloring books, video games and such. We are so happy to do this and will be dropping it off to the hospital tomorrow.
Joe comes back from India today after being there for 16 days for work. He is so glad to be coming home and I am so glad to have him home! Welcome back to RAINY Oakland!!
