We should celebrate today as Cole's port is officially removed!! No more flushes, from now on we should be in and out of the clinic in no time.
We were called in early at 8am to come in at 9am when Cole's appointment wasn't originally until 11:30am so we all rushed to get down to Kaiser asap. We dropped Ruby off at her friend's house and arrived at the hospital around 9:15. Once we talked to the anesthesiologists we weren't sure if we were going to be able to do the surgery today b/c of him having a slight cold but after listening to his breathing and knowing he doesn't have any breathing ailments to start with we all assumed he would be fine. There are always more risks including asthma-like attacks when a patient is sick b/c of the breathing tube so we had to take this into consideration.
The surgery took about 1 hour, it went fine with no complications. The recovery/wake up time took about another hour and we were out of there around 1. He was in A LOT of pain throughout the afternoon and the evening and went to bed at 6. He is not wanting to move at all b/c of all the pain b/c of the circumcision so we are trying to leave him as stable as possible. It will be interesting to see how much better he feels tomorrow, if any. All he wants to do right now is lay on his back in his crib or lay on the Dora couch and watch movies. He has not eaten much at all so we're hoping he has an appetite tomorrow.
We are so glad this day and this surgery is over. Ruby has been a great big sister, bringing Cole blankets, pretzels, and rubbing his head and talking to him very gently like a princess to make him feel better. Please keep little Cole in your prayers that he feels better soon!
