About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

4/19, Monday- Recovery

Well it was a rough week last week but we are in pretty much full recovery now. It took Cole a couple of days to recover from the anesthesia which was the worst part and he was extremely sore through Thursday. Luckily I was able to stay home with him all week and be by his side as all he could do was lay on his back.

So my brother Dan has set out to raise some research funds for the Histiocytosis Assoc. of America, while running in the Cinco de Mayo 8K in Snoqualmie, WA. He lives in Issaquah so it will be a short trek over there for the run on May 1st. He is training for Bloomsday in Spokane anyway so this will be perfect b/c it is the weekend before Bloomsday! He will be running in honor of Cole and is trying to raise $500. If anyone wants to do this race with him or donate let me know! Thanks Uncle Dan!! On the same day, Joe, Ruby, Cole and I are heading over to Vacaville (1 hour east of Oakland) to hike with a family we met at the Hike for a Cure who are now our friends in support of the first annual east coast Hike for a Cure in Virginia. We will hike one of our friends' local mountains in honor of all Histio heroes. We will be sure to post pictures!
