Saturday we made the trek out to Vacaville (1 hour east of Oakland) to hike with some friends Val and Gabe whom we met at Hike for a Cure at Yosemite last September, in support of those hiking the Hike for a Cure East Coast in Virginia. The East Coast H4AC was organized to raise money for research for Histio which ended up raising almost $100K! There were 5 adults and 5 children on our hike in Vacaville and it was a gorgeous, sunny 75 degree day. We hiked about 500 vertical feet which took us about an hour up, had a boxed lunch generously provided by our friends, then hiked back down enjoying the beautiful view of green, lush, rolling hills. Cole wore his Superman t-shirt and was a trooper the whole hike having to be in the backpack. Ruby and her friend Ainsley ran way ahead of all of us adults and made it to the top in no time! It was a great day in honor of all Histio heroes and angels!!
We also want to take the time to appreciate Holly's brother Dan- he ran in the Cinco de Mayo run in Snoqualmie, WA, also a Histio fundraiser. He made the efforts to raise as much money as he could and received several donations. Our parents were especially generous with their donation which we appreciate SO much!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!!! Dan did amazingly well in running this race- he did 5 miles in 35 minutes, running a 7 minute mile the whole time! The next day he went on to run Bloomsday in Spokane which was 7 miles which he also did amazing in! Go Dan! He is never going to slow down. So, needless to say, we are so thankful to have such generous friends and family supporting us!!
We will post some pics of the weekend.
