About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

10/11/10- Big day tomorrow

So it's been almost exactly 1 year since the end of Cole's treatment- Oct. 14th, 2009 was the last day of his chemotherapy. Since then we've had nothing but good news from the doctors, an answer to so many prayers. Since then we've also had his port taken out, had complete physicals every month, had blood draws, an abdominal ultra sound and chest x-ray every 3 mos., have had all of his non-live immunizations, and now are starting his live immunizations.

Tomorrow is another chest x-ray and abdominal ultrasound in the morning and physical in the afternoon. He is also due for his live immunizations but I think we will wait until Thursday for these. If all goes well with the results of the scans we will extend them out to every 6mos. and dr. visits to every 3mos. This will be easier on Cole and easier on mom! Tomorrow will be a long day at the hospital & clinic but we think we will see positive results. Please keep little man in your prayers.
