About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

4/12/11, Tuesday- Update

Cole had his 6 mo. abdominal ultrasound & chest x-ray on April 1st and praise God everything looked fine! We are so thankful for this and his progress in life in general. We participated in a fundraiser the next day in Dublin which was the inaugural "Walk for a Cure" where a gal I had met through Circle of Friends (the support group I lead) put this on and helped to raise over $14K! I helped gather sponsors and get the word out there on histiocytosis. It was nice meeting other families who have gone through what we have and connecting.

Cole is doing great. He's talking up a storm, amazing us each day at the words he knows and is now talking in full sentences. He loves the cartoon Max and Ruby, loves playing with balls, loves his blankie(s) and enjoys going to school 2 days a week. He spent last week with Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Bruce in Tahoe while Joe and I took Ruby to Disneyland for her 5th birthday. He had so much fun throwing rocks and playing hide and seek with Grandpa!

Thanks for caring about our precious boy!
