About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

4/20, Monday- Results of CT scan

The results of the ct scan were described by Dr. Kronish as "stable." He said he couldn't see the liver and the lungs all that well because of the anesthesia that was in Cole's system. He said he could still see spots on the organs but still could not tell if they are actual lesions or scars. He compared the scan from January to this one and they look quite similar. Doc is contemplating biopsing one of the spots on Cole's liver in the future but is going to wait until we have a couple more scans under our belt. It will be great when we don't have to put him under so we can see his organs more clearly. The good news is that if the scan looks like this at the 1 year mark, we can stop treatment. Overall, Doc was happy with the results and even happier that his organs are working 100% and he looks great and is thriving. The next scan will probably be in another 3mos.

We are getting ready for a trip up north to visit Joe's parents in the Portland area and will be away from home for almost a month! Joe will be going to India for work and Holly will probably be going back east with Cole to do some exploring and to visit friends. We are looking forward to getting away for a while and getting some help with the munchkins!!
