So we had pretty good visits at the clinic this week. Tuesday was Cole's monthly check-up which Dr. Goodman was pleased with and then he had his blood draw in his arm. This was horrible for our little man; he bawled for 5 straight minutes but then was ok. I think Cole's temperature went from normal to "peak" temperature w/in that 5 mins. b/c he was sweating like a pig afterwards! We were glad that was over. We should get the results of the test next week as they are testing for any #'s to be out of the ordinary to signal the chance of Histio becoming active again.
He then received his first round of the "non-live" vaccinations on Thursday which was 2 shots in each leg. They were Hep. B, Polio, Pneumococcal, DTP, Rotavirus, and Hib. This wasn't quite as bad as the blood draw but not something he would choose to go back for! We took his measurements and he now weighs in at 23lbs, 10oz, about 4lbs under his sister! And almost 28" tall. We think it won't be long before he and Ruby are the same size considering how much he eats!
Tomorrow Joe and I go to the Histio meeting at Stanford. His parents are here to watch the kids for us. Thanks Joan & Marty!! There will be a couple well-educated doctors who have worked with many Histio patients there who will talk on the disease and answer questions. This is where we met many other parents of Histio heroes and angels last year that made us feel like we were not alone. We are looking forward to this and it is also a nice way to spend a day together!
We hope that all of you have a very nice weekend!
