About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

12/20, Saturday

As Christmas draws closer we are ever thankful for close friends and family and miss whom we can't be with. This year we are so thankful to have little Cole and have his health as well. He has been doing very well and we are definitely falling in love with this little guy. He loves to smile and coo which is so much fun for all of us. He had his chemo last Tuesday and after having his transfusion a few days earlier and chasing the chemo with GCSF shots, his counts were in the normal range this week. He is up past 10lbs now so we are slowly moving into his 3-6mos clothes!
He will get his next round of chemo Tuesday.

Grandma Joan and Grandpa Marty will hopefully be able to make it down in the Washington snow storm for Christmas with all of us. Then next week we will head over to Tahoe to be with Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Bruce and Uncle Rick and Aunt Lecia if all is going well with Cole.

Happy Holidays to you all!!

Hi,

We have a daughter with LCH and we also live in Oakland! Our daughter Ivy is 4 and she is being treated at Children's Hospital Oakland. Actually, she just finished chemo (after being on it for almost 4 years!).

Her website is www.caringbridge.org/c/ivykate if you'd like to know more. Or feel free to contact me at allyson_hitt@yahoo.com.

Merry Christmas!
