Today was Cole's blood transfusion which went fine. It was planned he was going to get his chemo today but since his Neutrophil count (the first defense against bacterial infections) was down it is being delayed until next week, Tuesday most likely. We will give him his Neupogin shots every other day for the next few days to increase his Neutrophil count and he should be right back on track. The needle is so tiny he doesn't even notice we gave him the shot so that makes it easier. Joe is the pro at this. Cole is now up to 9 lbs 12 oz which is great and still on track for the 25th percentile of weight which he was born at.
We have one date to look forward to which is his next CT scan, Jan. 8th. After this procedure we will have an update on the lesions on his lungs and liver and will know more about his future treatments, hoping his chemo will go from weekly to monthly. We pray this is the case!
About Cole Kambeitz
- Holly Kambeitz
- Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.
