Latest weigh in for the big boy shows him at 9lbs and 4oz... wow.. he's definitely getting bigger and chubbier. He's almost track for being back to the 25th percentile for weight for babies this stage. So he's gaining fast and furious on those other little guys out there.
His Albumin and Bilirubin levels are normal now - so that's a good sign for his liver and the spots going away. His hemoglobin counts are slowly lowering so most likely on Tuesday he'll need to go in for a blood transfusion. Ruby will be in for pre-school so the timing will be good.
Helping out - Our friends from Church (Ed and Janie) were nice enough to take care of Ruby today while Holly took Cole in for chemo. Janie was a teacher before she had her two kids so she was well prepared for the chaos. She had activities all ready for Ruby - so much fun. Our neighbors down the street made some extra stew so we don't have to make dinner tonight - so much help. Good thing too as the lady who cleans our house wasn't able to make it today as her son was sick.
So a nice relaxing weekend ahead ( we hope)... we need sleep..having a newborn doesn't give us much time for sleep... uggh..
About Cole Kambeitz
- Holly Kambeitz
- Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.
