About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

11/10, Monday- 5th chemo treatment

Today we took Cole into the clinic to get his 5th chemo treatment. We were still unsure about what was going to happen with his catheter, being it clotted. Good news, the nurse was able to clear it with a solution so the chemo was able to be given and blood was able to be drawn! We did get a call tonight that Cole's hemoglobin level is low and we need to transfuse tomorrow.

Next Monday will be Cole's 6th week on the chemo so his lungs and liver will be assessed through CT scan the next day, the 18th. If the scan shows the disease is the same or getting better he will stay on the same medicine for another six weeks. If it shows it is getting worse we will switch to stronger medicine.
