About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

11/18 - CT Scan and Results !!

So we to Ruby to her first day at pre-school she had a good time and it allowed us to have the free time to take Cole to the hospital without having to entertain her the entire time. What a blessing.

Cole had his CT scan today - very quick - 30 mins and he recovered in only a few minutes and was immediately hungry - go figure. We waited for an hours and Dr. Kronish the Oncologist came by. He was happy to give us the good news:
Lungs - dramatically better - looks almost all gone
Liver - better - not sure exactly how much better, but better none the less
Skin - still getting better - although this is a minor portion of his condition
Blood levels - Bilirubin is normal, Albumin levels are nearly normal
Weight - he's up to 7lbs 11oz.

So he's not in remission, but it's definitely improving which is great news - Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support!

What's next - we continue treatment on the same protocol for 6 more weeks. Then another check (CT scan) to see how he's doing. From there we'll have a new report out and view to the next few months. Again we really appreciate your prayers and support. Thank you to all for the meals, watching of Ruby and parking -it's been a great help. Joe's work has been very gracious in donating to Histio.org and allowing him to work from home as needed. It's been a real help!!

Next up - Chemo on Friday..
