About Cole Kambeitz

My photo
Cole Jonathan Kambeitz was born October 5th, 2008. He was born with chicken pox-like lesions on his skin. After a CT scan, MRI, x-ray, ultrasound, and a biopsy, he was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Hystiocytosis (LCH) at 3 days old. It affects his skin, liver and lungs. He completed treatment of 1 year of chemo and steroids and after a liver biopsy in late November '09 confirming no active disease, he is officially in remission. Today he is a very happy boy, excited to explore the world.

10/28, Tuesday

Today was a pretty easy day with Cole. He had his chemo last night and it went smoothly. He did look a little pale today but his overall counts were still pretty normal after the treatment. If his Hemoglobin level dips below 7 (it is at 9 now) he will get a blood transfusion in the next day or 2. He will have an ultrasound in the next week or to see if there is any change with the lesions on his liver and lungs. We were very happy to see him noticeably gaining weight today as his legs definitely looked chubbier and we could see it in all his tiny little toes and fingers. He has gained 1 lb since he was admitted last Tuesday, going from 5lbs 12oz to 6lbs 12oz today. Progress!
